A Little about myself
I'm a video gamer by day, and a video gamer by night. Mostly by day, as that's the time I often do any gaming.
I come from the UK, England living in a small town called Northampton. I've been gaming since 25th December 1992, CHRISTMAS DAY! This is something I always remember because it's the day I got my first taste of console gaming. I received a brand new Sega Mega Drive (or Genesis in the Americas). I remember opening a smaller present first. No idea what it could be, given the size and shape. To my surprise it was a Sega Mega Drive game - Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I turned to my parents and told them you got the wrong game, as at the time all we had was a Commodore Amiga 500. Needless to say, I was told to carry on opening. The next present was the big one. To my even BIGGER surprise it was the Sega Mega Drive, complete with Mega Games I and Sonic the Hedgehog. It goes without saying that this is what got me into console gaming in the first place. Without it, I may not have entered console gaming for many years after. Or even worse, what if I got a SNES! Yeah, because of the Mega Drive, I became a huge Sega fan-boy. That's not to say I don't like other consoles. In the past, I've had many, and if my memory serves me correctly, here they are --> Sega Mega-Drive, Sega Mega-CD II, Sega Game Gear, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3, Sony PSP, Microsoft Xbox, Microsoft Xbox 360, Microsoft Xbox One and recently, a Nintendo Switch (courtesy of my girlfriend). So as you can see, I've owned quite a few over the years, from Sega, Sony, Nintendo and Sony. |
the hardware and software I use
Here is a little bit about the equipment I use everyday for capturing, editing and recording on YouTube.
First up is my PC, which was recently upgraded, since it's original components were about a decade old. It used to have an ageing LGA775 motherboard, Intel Q6600 CPU and 6Gb of DDR2-800 RAM. Barely capable these days. These are now it's current specs:
Asus ROG Strix B250H Gaming Motherboard
Intel Core i3 7100 @ 3.90GHz
8Gb Ballistix DDR4-2400 RAM
EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti SC 2Gb
SanDisk Ultra 2 480Gb SSD
Western Digital Blue 1Tb 7200RPM HDD x2
Asus PCE-AC56 Wireless PCIe Card
Cosair CX550M PSU
Cooler Master HAF-EVO Case
And my capture device is an AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable Lite. I also use an Xbox One controller for gaming, as well as a Corsair K70 RGB keyboard and Corsair Sabre RGB mouse. For commentary, I have a blue Blue Yeti microphone.
For console gaming, I have s Sega Dreamcast, Xbox 360, Xbox One X and a Nintendo Switch.
The software I use to capture is the simple but easy-to-use RECentral that you use for the AVerMedia. For editing videos I use CyberLink PowerDirector 15 (I hope to upgrade to 17 soon). For thumbnail creation and photo editing, I use ACDSee Photo Editor 6.
